Apple Fritters are luscious deep-fried donuts filled with apples and cinnamon and drizzled with an easy three-ingredient glaze. You can have these scrumptious warn apple fritters in your hands in less than thirty minutes. Make sure you stash a couple for yourself, or you might blink your eyes, and they will be gone. These are one of my darling daughter’s favorite goodies. She can not get enough of them!
We are just crazy about apple recipes. But honestly, who isn’t? After all, they keep coming out with more and more delicious apples. This recipe, Apple Dump Cake, Apple Strudel, and Apple Cookies are just a few of our favorites.
Wouldn’t these taste fabulous with a hot cup of coffee? These delectable Apple Fritters are so easy and quick. They can be all yours in about thirty minutes. Your family and friends are going to love them. They are best enjoyed shortly after you cook them, but they will stay up to two days, covered loosely with paper towels in a brown paper bag.
Why this recipe works!
- Homemade warm sweet apple fritters that are better than your local bakery.
- Only wholesome natural ingredients with no artificial colors or preservatives.
- Easy and quick to mix and fry.
- The fritters can be fried up in a fryer, Dutch oven, or heavy stock pot.
How to make Apple Fritters?
First, peel, core, and dice a couple of Granny Smith or Honey Crisp apples. I like to dice them somewhere between 1/4-1/2 inch. That way, you get a good taste of that sweet apple. Now grab a large bowl and add the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Whisk it around and get it all mixed together. Make a well in the middle and add the milk, egg, and applesauce. Now stir the mixture just until it is combined.
Fill a Dutch oven or large heavy stock pot with about 1 1/2 inches of canola oil. Use a candy thermometer and bring the oil to 375 degrees. Carefully drop about 1/4 cup of batter per fritter into the hot oil. I like to spread the batter a little while I am pouring it so that the fritter does not end up too fat and so it cooks all the way through. Cook each side until golden brown. It takes about 2 minutes per side. Remove to paper towels to drain.
Once they have cooled, whisk together the milk, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Finally, dunk the fritters in the glaze, turning over to make sure each side is coated. Place on wire racks to air dry and drip.
Can you bake these fritters?
This is a question that I am asked quite frequently. Yes, I am sure there are lots of great recipes out there for baked apple fritters; however this particular recipe really needs to be fried. Do your best to keep the oil at 375 degrees so the fritter absorbs less of the oil.
Recipe notes and helpful tips
- Don’t over-mix the batter, as it may make the fritters tough.
- Don’t overcrowd the pan when frying so the donuts cook better, and the oil temperature is easier to maintain.
- Use a candy thermometer to track the temperature of the oil.
- A Dutch oven or heavy pot helps the oil hold its temperature.
- Try to maintain a constant temperature of 375 degrees. When you add the batter, the temperature will drop, so you must increase the heat a tad. Likewise, when you remove the fritters from the oil, the temperature will increase, so you need to turn the heat down a tad.
- Remove the fried fritters to paper towels to drain.
- Store the cooled cooked fritters wrapped loosely in paper towels in a brown paper bag.

hello.. do I have to use applesauce?
Beth Pierce
I have not tried them without it. You could try substiting 1-2 tablespoons of oil.
Jean
I was thinking apple juice??
Beth Pierce
Also a good solution
Sam
Can these be frozen?
Beth Pierce
Yes!
Elaine
Made these exactly as the recipe says and my family loved them. So I made them this morning again. Kids got so excited.
They like them better than the basket, PLUS, a lot healthier.
I don’t do refined sugar and not much salt , so I made some for myself with honey instead inside and as the icing and no salt. They were really, really good. I sure didn’t want to do without since I hardly EVER have any treats! Thank you. This is the best and simplest recipe I found.
Beth Pierce
Thanks so much, Elaine! So glad that the kids love them. They are tasty, indeed!
Jean Mowery
So did you replace the sugar 1:1 with the honey, for both the batter and the glaze?
Brandon
I have recently started squeezing fresh apple juice for my kids rather than giving them the store bought stuff. Currently I’m searching for a recipe that incorporates the left over apple pulp and am curious if this recipe would work for this purpose.
I know you put in there to core and peel the apples. Do u know how the skins would handle being fried by chance?
Beth Pierce
No I sure don’t but I will post the comment and see if the readers have anything to say!
Irene
I just made apple fritters tonight for the first time ever!! I cut the recipe in half and switched the flower to gluten free. Used King Arthur for this recipe and added the full amount of apple sauce for moisture. I also added some cranberries in couple of them. They all turned out really delicious!! Thank you! 🙏😬
Beth Pierce
My pleasure, Irene! So glad that you liked them!
Dickens Smith
I have made these gluten and dairy free and also left the skins on the apples and they turn out fine. I don’t have the apple sauce so I skip that most times. I have blended up some apple with lemon juice for a substitute . I usually add some lemon juice to my recipe every time because it makes them slightly tart.
Anjali
Omg these fritters were so delicious!! They were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, perfectly sweet and packed with apple flavor. Will definitely be making them again soon!
Beth Pierce
Thanks, Anjali! I am so glad that you liked the fritters. We love them too!
Justine
I have never had a fresh apple fritter before – what a treat! Absolutely delicious.
Casey
These apple fritters are our favorite. We have been making them for a while now and I just wanted to let you know how much we really enjoy them. Thanks for sharing.
Beth Pierce
Hey Casey, that is great! I am so happy that you like them.
Vicki
Do u make any of it ahead of time?
Beth Pierce
I do not make any of this recipe ahead of time.
Carrie
These were the best apple fritters with the prefect fresh apple taste and texture. The kids and hubby loved them. Thanks for the recipe.
Beth Pierce
You are most welcome, Carrie!
Nicki
I can’t believe these scrumptious apple fritters are this easy to make. They are one of my favorites and I’ll be making these often.
Beth Pierce
Thanks, Nicki! I am so glad that you liked them!
Erin
These were absolutely outstanding. I’ve seen a lot of really tedious apple fritter recipes with a million ingredients and this proves there’s no need.
This may have been a symptom of either having an inaccurate infrared thermometer or a wonky cooktop, but I fried in lard and found 325-340 was perfect for golden, fully cooked fritters. 350+ burned quickly but didn’t cook through (just a note for those frying in animal fats)
Beth Pierce
Thanks for the tips Erin and I am so glad that you liked the apple fritters.
Jutta Vermeulen
I just made these and they are delicious. Topped them off with Advocaat egg liquor from Germany. I did make them with gluten free flour and used almond milk so that my daughter can enjoy them as well. I think they turned out as good as with the usual ingredients. Thank you for the recipe.
Beth Pierce
The pleasure is all mine, Jutta! So glad that you liked the fritters.
Topher
Made these this morning made a double batch used two and a half cups of Jonathan apples that I softened a bit on the stove top in brown sugar and butter didn’t have applesauce so used sour cream made a batch and a half of glaze with a little extra milk to make it more fluid and a touch of maple syrup they turned out great next time I will try it with more apples and a little less baking powder they really got fluffy
Beth Pierce
Thanks, Topher! I am so glad that you liked the apple fritters!
Minerva Spencer
We have apples coming out of our ears and fritters are my favorite bakery item. Strangely, I’d never made them before (probably because of the frying). Anyhow, I subbed oat milk and the fritters were delicious. My husband is pre-diabetic so he ate them without the glaze and loved them. I ate about 5 with the glaze;>) I made the first 6 using 1/4 cup and they were too big so I went much smaller–maybe 2 tablespoons–and those cooked to a nice golden brown. The 1/4 cup ones were raw in the middle and ended up very brown, but still delicious.
Beth Pierce
Thanks for the tips, Minerva! So glad that you and your husband liked the fritters. We love them too!
Kellie
My husband has to eat gluten free and low sugar because of a chronic disease and he loved these. I used King Arthur’s GF 1 to 1 flour and half coconut sugar half white sugar. Also no glaze just a drizzle of honey on top.(although they are good without a glaze too) This was the first time in 5 years he has had an apple fritter that he has loved. Thank you for the recipe! Will be making it into our favorites every fall.
Beth Pierce
Aww, that is so so sweet. I am so glad that your husband loves the apple fritters. Thanks for the tips for my readers. They appreciate it.
Chris Pecherzewski
Can I use coconut oil to fry them??
Beth Pierce
Refined coconut oil is safe for frying and a great choice for donuts. Virgin or unrefined coconut oil however has a very low smoke point burns easily and will leave an unpleasant taste on your donuts. Make sure you’re using the right one here and you’ll get great results.
tressa
My family gobbled these up as fast as I could get them out of the fryer! Great recipe — it’s a keeper!
Beth Pierce
Thanks Tressa! I am so happy that they liked the fritters.
Emily
These were a hit! Thank you.
Beth Pierce
Thanks, Emily!
Jody Scott
Fritters were fantastic! Glaze was too sweet. Next time I’ll decrease the powdered sugar, increase the vanilla and use both milk and melted butter to make it less sweet and thinner glaze.
John Wagner
These taste wonderful but are not exactly like the kind you’d get in a donut shop. The consistency is more like a real thick pancake than a chewy, tougher apple fritter. I think what donut shops do is they use the leftovers of yeast dough, mix in cinnamon and apples, and then, without letting the final product rise, deep fry it. With this recipe it is also hard to get the fritter to lay out flat in the oil and tends to be a large blob.
Becky O'Hara
The donuts came out delicious, but as you said, they were not the same consistency as you get at a donut shop. My donuts also came out more like blobs than the flatter fritter at donut shops. I loved the flavor.
Deb
I. Owned and operated a donut shop. My Apple fritters were in great demand. We do use the leftover yeast dough with apples, cinnamon and sugar. We use a bench cutter and chop it up, form into patties and let it rise one more time before submerging them totally in the fryer. They are not flipped.
Annie
Sounds like a simpler recipe for those who are in a hurry is to buy dough and add the pertinent ingredients and fry. I could see this being quick and easy.
Maurice Ledin
I agree. They are good but a bit fluffy. Per a previous comment precook the apples a bit and a little less baking powder so they aren’t so fluffy. Need to mush them down a bit in the oil to flatten them out
Johanne
Just made these today, used apple pie spice instead of cinnamon and did not glaze them. They were just as delicious and will be making them again.
Beth Pierce
Thanks, Johanne! So glad that you liked the fritters!
Rog
We glazed half and left half unglazed. The adults definitely liked the unglazed better. Less cloyingly sweet, and the apple came through stronger/fresher. On the ones we glazed, we used apple cider rather than milk in the glaze, and the nephews loved them with glaze.
Beth Pierce
Thanks for the tip, Rog!
Bevvie Trine
Amazing apple fritter stuff
Beth Pierce
Thanks, Bevvie!
Michele Fredlund
I tried my first time and thought that the batter works well for a quick batter. My boyfriend said I out did myself. Thank you for the receipe
Beth Pierce
The pleasure is all mine, Michele.
Tamara
These are my favorites and it’s because of apple sauce, it makes them so moist and delicious!! And this is a very simple recipe that turns out great!!
Thanks 😊
Tamara
Beth Pierce
The pleasure is all mine, Tamara!
Chris Pierce
Oh yah, I’m keeping this recipe on hand. First time making a fritter and wasn’t disappointed. I doubled the recipe and decreased the glaze recipe by multiplying the recipe by 1.5. Otherwise I would have too much glaze. I used a large ice cream scoop for each and flattened them out a bit when they were put into the oil. Husband approved, now to share with some neighbours.
Beth Pierce
So glad that you liked them, Chris. Thanks for the tips!
TIFFANY FITZGERALD
I am making these fritters this weekend and wanted to see if a large cast iron would work or no since it holds the heat to well?
Beth Pierce
I am sorry about the delay. I am constantly chasing my tail. Yes, a cast iron skillet would work well, and they do hold the heat well.
Laura
My kids said this is the best Apple fritter they’ve ever had. Delicious!
Beth Pierce
Thanks, Laura! So glad that they liked them!
Elaine Polach
So delicious! My husbands favorite from the Amish market and said these are better!! Win!!
Beth Pierce
Thanks, Elaine! I am so glad that they are a hit.
Sandra
My first time making apple fritters and these are AWESOME! I always share with my neighbors and I took them over while they were still warm. They called me while I was walking back into my home and just raved about them! The recipe will be placed in my “Favorite Recipes” book. Thanks!
Beth Pierce
Thanks, Sandra! I am so glad you and your neighbors like the apple fritters. I love sharing with my neighbors too!
Rachel Jezior
These were so so delicious I’ve made multiple batches! Thank you for a great recipe!!
Beth Pierce
My pleasure, Rachel.
Tetyana
I just made this recipe but with spelt flour for more nutritious breakfast and I fried them in little oil like frying pancakes and fried them with lid 2min per each side it’s amazing my kids loved it they can’t stop eating them😁 kids said that I can add even more apples🤣
Beth Pierce
Thanks, Tetyana! So glad that you and the kids liked them!
Katie F
These were AMAZING!!!! I followed the recipe as written and these definitely remind me of going to an apple orchard in Ohio that made them fresh while we were there. I will let them fry a bit longer next time until they are a darker brown. The fritters were cooked through, but were a bit too soft. I will be making these again and again and can’t thank you enough for the recipe. I have been trying many recipes over the years, but none of them were any good.
Beth Pierce
Thanks, Katie! So happy to hear that your search is at an end!
Juniper
Thanks Beth! For those with a sweet tooth, I suggest melting 1/4 cup of butterscotch chips in the milk and letting it cool before use. Gave them a caramel apple flavor. I made 3x the recipe for a few friends and they were gone in two hours. Totally worth the diabetes!
Beth Pierce
Thanks, Juniper! I love your tip and sense of humor!
Liz
I made these exactly how the recipe reads and they came out really great.
Easy and delicious
Beth Pierce
Thanks, Liz! So glad that you liked the fritters
Donnie
I made these again today! Trying to use up all my apples! This time I added crushed walnuts to the batter. Delicious!
I won’t try it right now, because I’ve got apples to use up, but this winter I’m going to try using blueberries and maybe another time cherries. The recipe should work perfect for other fruit, too, only you might want to adjust the cinnamon accordingly.
And for a nice twist on the icing… add a bit of maple syrup.
For those wanting to freeze these, I would suspect if you used other fruit you might have good success. The apples will just turn to mush once they thaw, but blueberries and others should be fine.
Beth Pierce
Thanks for all the tips Donnie! They are great!
Donnie
Excellent! Thank you!
For anyone having the problem of them not cooking all the way in the inside… try making them about the size of a hushpuppy. They might not end up looking like the picture but they’ll taste just as good!
For a slight twist, instead of using applesauce, try using strawberry applesauce or adding some nuts to the batter!
Beth Pierce
Thanks for the tips Donnie!
Linda F
Turned out excellent, a great recipe. I don’t have luck frying, the tips offered were a big help. These apple fritters turned out wonderful. Great taste even without the glaze, enjoyed eating an apple fritter that actually had apples in it.
Beth Pierce
Thanks, Linda! I am so glad that you liked them!
Doreen peachywakely@gmail.com
This recipe is the very best 👌 loved it so much ate three for lunch while they were still warm and scrumptious thank you so much for creating a perfect apple fritter.
Beth Pierce
Thanks, Doreen! I am so glad that you enjoyed the fritters!
Marina
This was my first time making apple fritters and they turned out absolutely fantastic!!
Beth Pierce
Thanks, Marina! I am so glad that you liked them!
Tori
Would love to make these. Can the dough be stored in the fridge overnight?
Beth Pierce
No, unfortunately not. Sorry.
Dyn
Hello just a tip if you want to do some prep the day before I would recommend cooking the apples with some brown butter cinnamon nutmeg. Then store the apples overnight so the next day you just throw it together and fry them up
Beth Pierce
Wonderful tip! Thanks, Dyn!
Sagrario
I would like to make this recipe. Can I bake it instead of frying? Please advise
Thank you
Beth Pierce
No, sorry. They need to be fried.
George
This is my first time making Apple fritters. I would suggest flattening the batter once placing into the hot oil using a spoon so it doesn’t take as long for the center to cook. I had a couple fritters with raw batter in the center. Other than that, they were perfect
Beth Pierce
Thanks for the tip George!
Grace
This was my first foray into apple fritters. Some notes:
• The batter wouldn’t cover the apple pieces, probably due to the moisture, but it went well anyways.
• The dough is the right sweetness if you account for the glaze — if you’re having them without glaze, you might want to up the sugar.
• I substituted melted butter for the applesauce – that’s on me – and I would definitely use applesauce next time; the fritters were lacking in apple flavor.
• To get them crispy I would definitely spread them out a lot (as the recipe does say), and do smaller “droplets” if possible. I dropped tablespoons into the oil, and most did not turn out crispy on the outside. My fritters are also cakey in texture on the inside, so by spreading it out you minimize that.
TL;DR: Spread them out a lot!! This recipe is a five-star if you remember to do that.
Beth Pierce
Thanks for the tips, Grace! I am so glad that you liked them!
CJ
Thank you for your recipe! First time making ( used margarine- had run out of butter ) they were great!,
Beth Pierce
Thanks CJ! Glad that you liked them!
Yrmengarde
I’m from a big city and every bakery/pastry/donut shop has apple fritters, and I always get them for my husband cause that’s his thing, but these…..these are hands down the best fritters I’ve ever had. The only change I did was my diced apples. I had a packet of pre-diced, spiced (rum & cardamon) apples on hand to use up and this recipe was perfect for them! I like how little oil I had to use compared to a lot of frying recipes, so thank you!
Beth Pierce
Thanks so much! I am so happy to hear that you like them. They are tasty apple treats and my husband’s thing too!
Myyellowapron
I love apple fritters…what not to love about them. Your post is awesome!
Jupiter
I have never heard of apple fritters before, but I do know of apple donuts! These feel very similar and are quite neat – this sounds really fun to make.
Marysa
I don’t think I have ever had apple fritters before. This sounds delicious! I’d love to make these in the fall when we pick so many apples.

Stephanie
We used to vacation to a place in North Georgia that had an apple orchard with a bakery. We would get apple fritters every time because they were so good. I can’t wait to make them at home now since we haven’t been there in years to get them from the orchard.
Beth Pierce
What a great memory! I hope you enjoy the fritters!
Susan C Livingston
I think I will try these this weekend. To help everyone out and to relieve the stress reread the Recipe. I read them fast and usually miss something the first time. Like the apples in this one that is in Step 1.
Debra
I made this with Bob Mills gluten free flour and it was great. Wonderful for those who are gluten free. Thank you.
Beth Pierce
Thanks for the tip Debra. My readers will appreciate it.
Stephanie
This is a good recipe. Didn’t have any raw apples so I used Carmel apples pie filling in a can that I had. I did the bad bad thing. I fried in Shortening. Excellent though.
Beth Pierce
Thanks Stephanie! So glad that you liked the fritters!
Deanna
Has anyone tried using the air fryer? If so what setting
Grammy Pammy
I was thinking the same thing, Deanna!
I’d never had apple fritters before but my husband wanted to surprise a friend who loves them, and wanted them fresh. He/we loved them. He was used to them crisp but loved the fact they had actual apple pieces in them 🤔🍎😂 This recipe is a keeper! I will make them again using the tips and tricks found here in comments. So glad I picked this ‘apple’ fritter recipe from all the rest. Thank you, stW!
Beth Pierce
The pleasure is all mine! So glad that you like the apple fritters!
Angela
I just made these and they are perfect just the way they are, I wouldn’t change a thing. When I dropped them in the hot oil I used the back of a rubber spatula with a little Pam on and they spread out beautifully! My husband and son just love these and think they are better than our favorite donut shop. I will definitely make these again so thank you for the great recipe.
Beth Pierce
Thanks Angela! So glad that you, your husband, and son liked them. They are delicious little treats.
Brian allison

Beth Pierce
You are most welcome! Enjoy!!
Leah
I added about a tablespoon of oil and then used a cookie scoop to drop little balls into air fryer cooking on fry setting for about 5 minutes. They came out great, and were really low fat.
Beth Pierce
That is good to know. I get this question all the time!
Stephanie
i want to try this method. i love applefritters and i have an air fryer
Amber
they are good but more cake like than crisp.
Linsey
I totally agree–I just made these and they were more like cake (wondering if a reduction in baking powder would remedy this?). Also, my batter didn’t spread much so they were puffy and not very sweet. Overall, a pretty good recipe but I will tweak a couple of things and try again.
Aaron
Noticed the same thing as you and was also thinking of trying these changes. I’ve seen other recipes that add 1 tbsp. lemon juice and 1 tbsp. oil/butter per 10-fritter batch, I may try that to get the inside of the fritter more moist. Some recipes also specify eggs at room temp? Not sure if that’s a big deal, but worth a shot. Overall though this was my first try at homemade fritters and it turned out very well – I’m glad this was the first recipe I tried! Thank you to the author for posting this for all to enjoy!
Beth Pierce
Thanks Aaron! The pleasure is all mine!
Sally
Can I use Avocado oil instead since it takes high heat?
Beth Pierce
I have never fried with avocado oil so I am not sure.
Grammy Pammy
I fried in a combination of almond and coconut oils (both high heat), that is all I had besides low/no heat olive oil. They worked great.
Question: is it taboo to reuse the same oil twice? I strained it into a glass jar so I can make them again for my grand boys this week.
Beth Pierce
No it is not taboo. You can use it several times before discarding.
Sonia
Hi. Can raisins be added to this recipe ?
Beth Pierce
I am not sure. I have not tried that.
Gretchen Baker
These are amazing!!!! Thank you for the recipe! Wouldn’t change a thing!
Beth Pierce
Thanks Gretchen! So glad that you like them!
j
taste is good, 2 min per side is not enough. they are almost raw. I even tried them in a deepfryer. about 3 min per side is better.
Carmen
Do I add the flour and dry ingredients to the chopped apples – in the same bowl? Or, do I add the chopped apples later? Didn’t see that in the directions.
Beth Pierce
Folding in the apples is in Step 1
Joy
Delicious recipe. I did find that temp to be too hot for me though. The outside burned quickly and the inside was still raw. I lowered to 275 and they turned out perfect. Thank you!
Beth Pierce
Thanks for the tip!
Karen
Can you use vegetable oil instead of canola oil?
Beth Pierce
Yes you can
Lori
Loved this. A small suggestion. If you find you have a hard time spreading the batter when placing into the oil, cut pieces of parchment paper, spread the batter on. When you set the paper/batter into the oil, it will release from the paper as it cooks. You can then pull it out with tongs and use it again for the next fritter.
Beth Pierce
So glad that you like them! Thanks for the tip Lori!
M Thompson
How big is each one? Roughly the size of a flat tennis ball?
Beth Pierce
I guess you could say that if you flattened the tennis ball.
Chester
Hi! Would love to make these but I don’t have a candy thermometer. Do you think I could do without one or do you need precise oil temperature? Thanks!
Beth Pierce
Do you have a deep fryer that maintains temperature. It is hard to keep the oil at temperature without a thermometer.
Crystal
I made these for my family this morning and they were amazing. I never fry anything but this was such an easy recipe. Thank you for sharing
Beth Pierce
My pleasure Crystal! Enjoy!!
Suzy Orth
Just made a batch this morning to bring in to work…. didn’t even test drive a batch at home before diving in. INSANELY easy to do! I did not ‘spread out’ the dough when dropped in to the fryer; however, they still turned out amazing. I just monitored very closely and turned frequently to evenly cook. We have a new ‘breed’ of apple in Washington State called the “Cosmic Crisp’ apple. It was developed/engineered at Washington State University (Go Cougs) and it is the PERFECT apple for cooking. It maintains a crisp texture during cooking and is sweet and tart at the same time. Plus, they are much larger than a Granny Smith/Honecrisp, so it only took 2 apples for a double batch. Anyway, I digress…. this recipe is fabulous; and my dough balls turned out perfect. The guys at work devoured them! I added a little bit of lemon juice to the glaze for a little tartness, and also tossed some fritters in an cinnamon/sugar mix. Both methods were a home run! If you haven’t tried the Cosmic Crisp apple…. please do so! They are a late season apple, and come out around November-January. SO GOOD! Thanks for the recipe!
Beth Pierce
So glad that you liked the recipe. I have tried the Cosmic Crisp apples and they are wonderful.
Richard Engel
I made these per instructions and they turned out delicious. But they did not get a crisp outer, should I have fried longer ? Also the next day all the glaze had soaked in? Thanks
Beth Pierce
Maybe they did need to fry a little longer.
Nicole
These were super quick to make and perfect in every way!
Beth Pierce
Thanks Nicole! So glad that you enjoyed them!
Tina.carr
My husband loves apple fritter and I wanted to make it for him. He said it was best one he ever had! Thanks!
Beth Pierce
Thanks Tina! So glad that he liked them!
Lydia Armstrong
I made these with a gluten free flour blend and they turned out terrific! I have always loved apple fritters and I have tried many recipes. This adapted one is truly the best one yet. I think next time I make these I will make a caramel icing. 🙂
Beth Pierce
So glad that they worked out with the gluten free flour. I love the caramel icing idea!
Scharelle
Super easy Super delicious
Beth Pierce
Thank you!!
Jodi
Could you bake them?
Beth Pierce
No sorry! That will not work.
John
Need to scale back on the apples. Recipe could be a little more specific on the amount of apples to use. I guess my large apples were jumbo apples.
Phyllis
Can these be cooked in an air fryer?
Beth Pierce
No sorry they can not be.
Tami
Can I refrigerate the dough the night before frying them??
Beth Pierce
No sorry that does not work.
Becky
This recipe is amazing! So easy and delicious! My family loved them, and they are so easy to make, I will be making them often!!! Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!!
Beth Pierce
Thanks Becky! So glad that you and your family liked them! They are delicious!
Karen Taylor
Excellent recipe! Tried them today and they are delicious!
Beth Pierce
Thanks Karen! So glad that you liked them!

Can I substitute almond milk for milk?
Beth Pierce
I am not sure as I do not cook often with almond milk
Lee
Try apple cider and a pinch of nutmeg, forget the milk same with the glaze.
Cathy
Chopped apples or applesauce? The recipe says to chop apples but the directions say to add applesauce?
Beth Pierce
It calls for applesauce and chopped apples. Please scroll all the way down to the recipe and instructions.
Grace
Can we skip the applesauce?
Beth Pierce
Yes you can.
Nikki
Amazing. Used almond milk and flax eggs for a perfect vegan version!
Thank you!
Beth Pierce
Thanks Nikki! So glad that you liked it!
Miss Rochelle
Now that is what an apple fritter is suppose to look and taste like. I’m not sure it is a “good” thing, I live alone! I sauté honey crisps cut in small chunks and smashed the rest to have the applesauce measurement between the two. Perfect recipe and tips! Thanks!
Beth Pierce
Thanks so much Rochelle! So glad that you like them! We love them!!
Bonnie
Just made these. Don’t know what I did wrong but the batter seemed too thick. I couldn’t spread them. They got done on the outside but not the inside. I wound up cutting some in half and putting them back in. I used a cast iron pan with candy thermometer and when the temp got to 350 the oil started smoking, hence fritters got too dark. It seemed to work best at about 325. Beyond all my mishaps, the flavor was great and hubby liked them. I’ve tried a couple other recipes, but this one is the best. Will definitely try it again!
Beth Pierce
What kind of oil did you use? I use vegetable or canola and it does not smoke.
AmeliaJade
I made these gluten free! I followed the recipe exact but used a 1:1 gluten free flour. These turned out amazing! My family can all have gluten, and I can’t. Recipes are hit and miss and they’re always skeptical. Not only were they raving, but my oldest son said they were better than any apple fritter he’s gotten at a bakery, ever. That is high praise for a gluten free pastry. They all harassed me until I made a second batch. I cook and bake a lot, always experimenting. This is top of my list as far as favorites I’ve tried recently. Thank you!
Beth Pierce
My pleasure. So glad that you liked them and were able to adapt them to your needs.
Bob
Made these today… (Second week of fall…) Tasted great!
I used a Granny Smith and a Macintosh, nice blend…
I also used a few drops of lemon juice in with the apples to keep them from browning and I added a teaspoon of pre-mixed cinnamon sugar to the apples too. (that helped them start juicing then set that aside while I made the batter.
When I mixed the flour, baking powder, sugar and cinnamon, I didn’t have to add as much milk…
I used a cast iron pan to fry in – So, when I put the batter into the hot oil, I dropped a tablespoon of batter, at a time, Then put each new tablespoon of batter next to the last one, after a little “skin” forms on the first. (It makes them look like store bought.) Or, like “pull apart” donuts… One more hint is to “baste” the top of the donuts with the hot oil before flipping them.
Beth Pierce
Thanks for the tips Bob. I am sure the readers will appreciate them.
nathalie
I just made these. They were simple to make. For tge glaze, I had to double up on the milk and have a lot if leftover glaze, which I am hoping will be OK for next batch. They taste wonderful. Thanks for this sinfully delicious recipe 😋😜
Beth Pierce
You are most welcome. I would store the glaze in the fridge.
JoAnne
I made these last night and my husband loved them. I just wondered how can you keep them crispy like when first made, they got soft overnight.
Beth Pierce
That is where the doughnut shops have the edge with their glass cases. I wish I had a good suggestion like that.
Juanita
Thank you for sharing! My daughter and the grandkids went apple picking over the weekend. The grandkids have already called and said “grandma, will you make us something good with our apples”? This will be the perfect recipe to fulfill their request! 😊
Beth Pierce
Thanks Juanita! Enjoy!!
Sara E Martin
Perfect. I was really craving apple fritters but don’t want to leave the house. They come together quickly and easily.
Beth Pierce
Thanks Sara! So glad that you liked them!
Nicole
Let me start by saying at 35 years old, I’ve never had an apple fritter (even though I worked at Dunkin Donuts in my teenage years). This recipe was soooo good! I love the flavor or the dough! The changes I made, that were suggestions in another recipe, is I cooked the apples with some sugar and a little cinnamon prior and let them cool. Therefore, I cut the cinnamon down in the recipe but I didn’t the sugar. I used 1 Granny Smith apple and 1 honeycrisp (my son ate the other granny smith). The only thing I’d change the next time I make this is that I’ll use 2 honeycrisp, or the equivalent of it, instead of any granny smith. I really dislike tart things and the tartness of the granny smith really overpowered the whole thing, to me. But, other than the Granny Smith issue, for me, this recipe is perfect!
Beth Pierce
Thanks for the advice on the Honeycrisp apples. They are delicious!
Catherine
I have searched for a long, long time for a delicious but simple Apple fritter recipe and this is it! Over time, I’ve tried a few but couldn’t get that bakery type of fritter as what I was used to buying. Look no further! I made these today and they are so great and I can’t wait to make them for my daughter and grandkids when they come to visit. Not to mention, neighbors enjoyed the fruits of my labor this morning and are begging for the recipe. . I used Honeycrisp apples and honeycrisp chunk applesauce (a new item at Safeway). The most difficult part of making these was to keep the oil at the right temperature which you really have to keep an eye on. This is a keeper of a recipe! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Beth Pierce
You are so very welcome Catherine! I am so glad that you and your neighbors liked them. I often share things with my neighbors too!
Cyndi Beltran
So excited to try these! I’m not sure if you’ve answered this already, but do you think almond or oat milk would make a decent milk substitute? Thank you!
Beth Pierce
Yes I think that you could! Enjoy!
VICTORIA Mccarty
Thank you for wonderful recipes!
Beth Pierce
You are most welcome!
CkdCrsdr
I was actually looking for a recipe for rhubarb fritters and gave up, then looked for an apple fritter recipe I could tweak.. This was perfect! I used half the cinnamon and added a little ground ginger and they are SO delicious and pillowy and knobby and the right amount of sweet and fruity! Very versatile recipe! I will definitely be making this as written with apples this fall. Thank you!!
Beth Pierce
Thanks so much! So glad that you like the recipe. I bet they were delicious!
Nicole
I used almond milk because I didn’t have regular and it worked perfectly.
Beth Pierce
Thanks for the tip Nicole!
Rita
These fritters are delicious. Any tips on how to flatten them. Some of mine were more round than flat.
Beth Pierce
It has been a while since I made these so I am trying to remember the consistency of the dough. Is it possible to maybe pat it down a little on the spoon before lowering into the oil?
Gwen Patrick
Sooo good! Beautiful! Used prepared vanilla frosting ( didn’t have powdered sugar!) spread it on as soon as they drained on a rack for a minute—-beautiful! Thanks again for this treat!
Beth Pierce
Thanks so much! So glad that you liked them! The pleasure is all mine!!
Hosanna Michelle Mohr
Have you ever flavored the glaze? if so, how did it go? I was thinking about making some with a chocolate glaze, but I wonder if lemon, orange, or even a mint glaze could work. I know it not traditional, but hey, why not try? 🙂
Beth Pierce
No I have not but it sounds delicious and should work well.
Don
My wife loves apple fritters. I saw this recipe and decided I would surprise her. They came out great. I just followed the recipe as written.
Beth Pierce
Thanks so much Don! So glad that you and the wife liked them!!
Mogivi
These do sounds good! This recipe is a keeper! Thanks!
Barb
These are PHENOMENAL! They taste as good as bakery fritters. I bake for a lot of elderly seniors who with sweet toothed. They are going to love them.
Great recipe and easy to follow.
Beth Pierce
Thanks so much Barb! So glad that you liked them. I sure hope the seniors like them.
Hannah
Could you mix up the batter the night before, refrigerating them overnight, and fry them in the morning?
Beth Pierce
No sorry that will not work.
Juanita
Hannah as a time saver you could combine your drive ingredients the night before in a covered bowl and get your wet ingredients measured and prepped and leave in fridge. Combine in the am. Add a squirt of lemon juice to your diced apples and stir to combine before covering and refrigerating, to prevent browning. Store them separately from your other wet ingredients.
Katie
This looks so good! I can’t wait to try this one with my family.
Jen
Such a delicious way to start the day! My kids devoured all of them so I’d definitely call this a success.
Karens
Very quick sand. Easy. I love them
Long
So good and so easy! My son commented twice on how good they were. Will make again! Thank you!!
Michael Kay
I have been so disappointed trying to find a good Apple Fritter that I stopped buying them 10 years ago. On a whim I googled recipes this morning and chose yours. I absolutely loved them. Followed recipe exact except I only had Fuji apples. They worked fine. Cooked quicker than 2 minutes per side. I left off the glaze due to sugar problems, but the fritter was very good without it. Thank you for this fine recipe
Beth Pierce
Thanks Michael! So glad that you liked them! You are most welcome!
MomWhoLikesToBake
Incredibly easy to make and the Apple fritters came out beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing this recipe!
Beth Pierce
Thanks so much! So glad that you liked them!!
Andrea Stewart

Thanks so much Andrea! So glad that your kiddos liked them!!
Jen S
Made these tonight and they turned out great! Thanks for sharing the recipe.
Beth Pierce
Thanks Jen! So glad that you liked them!! The pleasure is all mine!!
Melody
Never tried to make fritters before. To be honest I’m not much of a cook at all however I used canned apple pie filling that I made last summer from apples we picked turned out awesome. Batter was super thick still cooked fine. I don’t know if I’d worry about 375 so much because I could not keep mine at a steady temperature just kept checking inside and about 2 minutes on each side was pretty close they’re really good I didn’t even bother frosting them they are sweet enough
Beth Pierce
Thanks so much Melody! So glad that you liked them! They are delicious!
Kechi
I am drooling; these look dreamy! I will be making these with the kiddies come the weekend. Hand down the best way to eat apples!
Tara
Oh wow! These apple fritters look incredible, especially with that vanilla glaze. Definitely the perfect fall treat.
Tammy
It’s been too long since I’ve made apple fritters…I used to get them at the fall festival so they always bring back fun memories for me. Yours look perfect and now I’m inspired to make my own!
Suzy
The best! Loved how much better these taste than any donut shop!
Shadi
I always get these at my local bakery and now I can’t wait to make them at home!
Patty
Apple fritters are one of my favorite indulgences! These have the perfect amount of apples and cinnamon, and oh that yummy drizzle!
Robin
I made mine bite size, I didn’t get the crispy outside that I wanted. But I thought they tasted good.
Denise
What did I do wrong? I doubled the recipe, but I had way too much apple for the thick batter. So, I mixed up more batter, and thinned it a little, and my fritters came out chewy. I know it was something I did because so many others said theirs were fluffy. I did see where when using the 2x recipe, at one place the recipe calls for 2/3 cup milk in the ingredients list but the instructions say to add 1/3 cup. I used the 2/3 cup of milk but my dough was still too thick.
Beth Pierce
I am not sure. Did you spoon your flour into the measuring cups and level off with a knife? Is it possible you added too much flour. There are so many distractions these days.
Jimmy
Great! I must say that.. just follow your recipe and my family love it much, I come back here to say i am so happy! Thank for sharing this post.
Karen
Holy greatness in my mouth!!!!
Beth Pierce
Thanks so much Karen! So glad that you liked it!
Shelley
Total decadence! Apple fritters are so delicious, but it never even occurred to me to try to make them at home – I was shocked that they really only take about half an hour! What a treat! (And yes … I totally agree that these would taste fabulous with a hot cup of coffee … I can tell ya my afternoon joe is looking a little lonely right about now lol)!
Bintu
Stash myself a couple? I’d probably be the one eating them all! These are so delicious and oh so tempting. Definitely making another batch of these soon!
Anna
Just made these on a perfect fall morning and they are dangerously delicious… Love the idea of adding applesauce in the batter! I had to make them pretty small though or else the inside would still be raw. I will definitely make these again ☺️
Beth Pierce
Thanks so much Anna! So glad that you liked them!!
Ann
I made these and they are absolutely amazing! Do you have any tips on how to store them so they don’t go soggy?
Beth Pierce
Store them in a brown paper bag wrapped loosely with paper towel or wax paper.
katerina
Oh my, these apple fritters are amazing!! They will not last long in our house!! YUM!
Matt
You can never go wrong with apple fritters! These are so easy to make and absolutely delicious. Great recipe!
Ashley F.
These are way better than any bakery! They fried up perfectly!
Beryl
These are fabulous! I added cinnamon to the batter as suggested and made a simple glaze to top them with. They are best after sitting for awhile to crisp over!
Jacque T
I haven’t tried this recipe yet, but I am going to make them today! I was just curious, would using buttermilk in place of regular milk work as well? I love using buttermilk in fried dough 😁
Beth Pierce
Yes it should work fine
Vera Patterson
Can the batter be made the day before frying? I would like to have them prepared the night before except for frying them.
Beth Pierce
No I do not think that will work. Sorry!
Rachael Yerkes
one of my all time favorite treats!
Patricia
The recipe says 1/3 cup milk but in one comment you said 2/3 cup milk. Which one is it? I’m anxious to make them. Thank you
Beth Pierce
It is 1/3 cup of milk. One of my readers got me confused and I thought I deleted that comment. I will look for it again.
Chichi
This is a must try! I love apple fritters…
Lisa Huff
My husband is a HUGE apple fritter fan and his birthday is coming up and I have no ideas for him. But now I do, perfect!
Lizet
I have loved making your recipe for apple fritters. Every bite is heaven.
Marie-Charlotte Chatelain
My granny used to make these and I have not had them in years! Time to revisit! These sound so simple and look so good!
Betsy
My favorite fall donut! So hard to find a GOOD one nowadays…the major donut shop does a terrible job with these…maybe because they’re focusing on coffee instead of donuts now. Love this recipe, it’s wonderfully crispy on the edges, perfectly knobby as a fritter should be, and plenty of apple bits to satisfy any apple fritter lover!
Lauren Kelly
These smell and taste amazing! We will make these all Fall!
Toni Dash
This is such a perfect apple treat! A staple at my house for apple season!
Jude Loiselle
Awesome recipe! I didn’t have applesauce, so I used pineapple juice. Added enough to the milk to make 1/2 liquid. Also added a dash of nutmeg. I live in the mountains, so I used a tablespoon of baking powder. My first two fritters I just dropped the batter in and they didn’t get done, So a suggestion is to elongate when droppping the fritters in the oil. Very light and fluffy!!!!
Beth Pierce
Thanks Jude! So glad that you liked them! Thanks for the tip!
Ted
Son loved these. May use slight bit more of apple, but that depends upon the size of apples you use. Also, I lightly drizzled the glaze on top of the fritters and used toasted cinnamon. Cooked on induction stove at 4 of 10 for about 3 minutes on each side. To determine doneness – it’s like pancakes – when bubbles come-up and the hole stays there, your good to turn over for another 3 minutes.
Beth Pierce
Thanks Ted! I am so glad that you and your son loved them. Thanks for all the great tips!!
Eileen
I made these, it took me almost an hour! But that’s from getting everything ready and sitting down for a minute. Chopping the 2 largest apples I’ve ever seen. But that’s ok, I used some for the applesauce!
I also add a little cinnamon to my glaze and thinned it out with milk until it was the consistency I wanted. They turned out great!!!
Beth Pierce
Thanks so much Eileen! So glad that you liked the fritters! I will have to try the cinnamon in the glaze.
Doris Flournoy
Headed to market for some apples. Can’t wait to make these.
Beth Pierce
Thanks so much Doris! Enjoy!!
Carla Caston
I made these this morning and they are delicious. So easy to prepare. Will make them again and soon😊
Beth Pierce
Thanks Carla! So glad that you liked them! We love them!! Delicious!!
Heidy
I haven’t had Apple Fritters in years! I was so glad I tried your recipe. These Apple Fritters turned out perfect. Saving the recipe to make again.
Alina
So cool, never thought of fritters being sweet. This is a goal to make them this fall!
Pam
I am so ready for apple season and these fritters look just divine!
Noelle
So delicious! Perfect to make for a weekend breakfast, thank you!
Melissa
YUM- soooo delicious! We loved them and can’t wait to make them again!
Jen
I made these yesterday and they were gone so fast! Thank you so much for this recipe!
Erin
One of my favorite recipes! Such good apple flavor. And you’re right, don’t overmix the batter!
Veronica
Was wondering if leaving out the applesauce would make a huge difference…..I don’t have that right now but am so ready to make them. Any thoughts?
Beth Pierce
I think it would be fine
Ashley F
These are perfect! they came out perfectly! Such a great fall dessert!
Taryn
These were SO good. Apple fritters are my favorite and homemade are even better!
Barb
This might seem like a silly question but I so want to make these but don’t have applesauce. Any suggestions on a substitute? Or should I just cook and mash some of my apple? Can’t wait to try these.
Beth Pierce
Sorry about the delay. Yes you certainly could cook a little applesauce.
Brandon Ward
You could substitute vegetable oil for the applesauce and us apple cider instead of milk (that way still get that extra apple flavor that applesauce would give. Applesauce is a frequent substitute for oil in baking recipes.
Lydia
Really easy to make and amazing results, not too sweet and really soft!
Beth Pierce
Thanks Lydia! I wish I had one for my coffee right now!! 😉
Lily
These were so fluffy and delicious I served them after a BBQ with ice cream and we finished every single bite, this is an amazing summer dessert, reminds me of the fair.
Julie Blanner
Amazing! My girls loved helping me make these! So delicious and easy to make.
Rachel
Ok guys – I just made these and they are so good! I only had about an inch of oil and no candy thermometer but they still turned out delicious – the only issue with short oil is moving them constntly so they don’t burn from touching the bottom… I measured the temp by placing a grain of rice in the oil and when it sizzled, I knew it was ready…and I had about a fourth of the batter left over after doing two batches of five critters each. My family went bonkers over them, I served them warm right away.thank you so very much!!
Beth Pierce
Thanks so much Rachel! So glad that you liked them and everything worked perfectly. Thanks for the tips and have a great weekend!
Maggie T.
Can these be frozen?
Beth Pierce
I am sure they can but I have never tried.
Carolann
Yup. Good stuff. Made the apple a couple weeks ago but blueberries are on sale this week so I am substituting them for apples. Yum!
Beth Pierce
Thanks Carolann! Blueberry fritters are delicious!!
Aimee Shugarman
I’ve already made these twice in one week. We can’t stay away from them!! So good.
Trang
I’m totally making this for my husband for Father’s Day! He’s such a fritter fan and I didn’t realize how easy it is to make at home.
Natasha
I served this at home and my husband and I enjoyed it with our hot chocolate. It’s so quick and very easy to make! The end result was crispy and so delicious.
Omaha Debbie
The taste was incredible! I did use 2 large apples – the dough was so thick I was unable to pour the batter into the hot oil. It kind of all plopped into one 1/4 cup ball. The problem with that is the middle did not get cooked. Next time I will try a little less apple. I stored the remaining fritters in a air tight container. The next day they were almost mushy. They were crispy (and good!) the day of but this was disappointing. After baking in the oven they did get a better. Has anyone else encountered this? Regardless, I will definitely try recipe again. Thank you for sharing!.
DianaL
The directions say to store the cooled cooked fritters wrapped loosely in paper towels in a brown paper bag, not in an air-tight container. That may help.
Linda
Who doesn’t like apple fritters!!! They are one of my husband’s favorites so I had to try it out before Father’s Day so I could make him this treat. They came out so delicious that I was tempted to eat the whole batch myself! Heating the oil wasn’t as tricky as I thought it would be and the fritters came out crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside.
Jenn
Holy cow these are MAGICAL! Thanks so much for the recipe and for feeding my fritter craving!
Suzanne
This looks delicious, thank you for sharing!
Beth Pierce
The pleasure is all mine Suzanne!!
Mayuree
Has anyone tried to make these in an air fryer?
Beth Pierce
Those will not work in an air fryer.
Anita
I always buy self rising flour. Can I use that and eliminate the baking powder and salt?
Beth Pierce
I am sorry Anita but I always work with all purpose flour. I have read it is a little more complicated than that.
Teresa
I never comment on recipes I try, BUT THIS….Wow!!! My kids and I Love Them!! Recipe was easy to follow, I had ALL the ingredients. Going to try with peaches too!! Thank you!!
Beth Pierce
Thanks Teresa! So glad that you liked them. Peach Fritters sound deeeeeeeeeeeeelish! I love peaches!!
Deb
Cherry! Oooweeee lol
Bonnie Branch
Did you ever try peaches? That is the best idea I have heard all year so far! ???
Beth Pierce
It is 2/3 cup milk in the fritters and 1/4 cup milk in the glaze.
Rose
Is it really 2/3 cup of milk in the batter? I don’t see that in the recipe.
Beth Pierce
It is 1/3 cup milk as stated in the recipe.
Vonelle
Hello. Do we fold the diced apples in to the batter right before frying them. The instructions may tell me, but I didn’t see it. Thanks.
Beth Pierce
It is at the end of step #1.
Tammy
Thank you so much for the tips and the recipe! Everyone at my house loved it.
Catalina
These are my favorite! So glad to make them at home now!
Cathy
Apple fritters have always been a favorite of mine! These look like absolute perfection!
katerina
These sound SO good!! My kids would LOVE these!
Erin
These Apple Fritters would disappear in our house!
Dorothy
My kiddos are going to love this treat. One of my favorites too.
Matt
These are very easy to make and kids love them. Only thing I did different was after chopping apples I added sugar and cinnamon to the apples and microwave to soften a little.
Great recipe!
Beth Pierce
Thanks Matt and thanks for the tip. I will try that next time!
Angela
Can you use air fryer to cook? Temperature? Length to cook?
Beth Pierce
Sorry these will not work in an air fryer.
Adrianne
Oh yum!! I love seeing the desserts that my American friends are having this time of year. These look homely and so very delicious. I can’t wait to try them. I bet your daughter loves you making them for her!
Dannii
I love any kind of apple desert and these look AMAZING!
Chef Jeff
You can also add cherry or raspberries or even small bits of orange or lemon and they come out amazing. Happy cooking!

Beth Pierce
Thanks so much Sadie! Enjoy! They are really delicious!
Calleigh
Oh boy! I could imagine myself with a warm cup of joe and these apple fritters, that would be a pretty perfect combination a crisp fall day.
Beth Pierce
Yes indeed! It just does not get much better than that!
Sarah
Can you store these for the next day
Beth Pierce
Yes you can but they are best straight out of the fryer.
HPie
They came out perfect! I made sure to cut the apple pieces small and the apples were cooked just the right amount. Thanks for sharing this recipe! Will definitely be making again!
Beth Pierce
Thanks so much! So glad that you liked them! Have a great Sunday!
Beth
Ok! I just found my new favorite breakfast treat! I love that they can be ready in 30 minutes too!
Marilyn Smith
Just Made these for the first time. Glad there was no yeast. Very quick and the fritters were light airy and tasty. I think I’ll add more cinnamon next time as I love it. Going to see how my grand babies like them. Apples still had a little crunch, which I like. Will keep in my recipe box for sure
Beth Pierce
Thanks so much Marilyn. I am so glad that you liked them! I like my apples with a little crunch too!
Beth
Can’t wait to make this for my kids tomorrow morning! What a great way to kick off the weekend! Delicious!
Jen
Holy moly! My whole family is coming over this weekend and if these taste as good as they look, we’re in for a delicious brunch.

Can you believe I’ve never tried apple fritters?!! I had no idea they can be made in just 30 minutes. Adding these to my must-make list!
Beth Pierce
Thanks Andrea! I hope you enjoy them!
Lisa
There look SOOOO AMAZING! I’ll have to give these a try with GF flour. 🙂
Beth Pierce
Thanks sounds like a great plan. Let us know how they turn out!
Ella
Do the apples cook too or are they hard?
bpierce
It has been a while since I made this. They are chopped in little pieces but I do think they maintain a little crisp. If you like them better soft than cook them a little bit before adding to the recipe.
Ron Crowder
Patti you missed itt in the instruction. In the first instruction mid paragraph it mentions making a well adding both the milk and eggs, hope this helps you. I’ve been making these now since the 90’s as I had a friend who owned a donut bakery and he gave me his recipe just before he closed shop.
Judith
Mine came out soft and kind of soggy. How do I get them crisp on the outside?
Beth Pierce
That could have something to do with oil temperature. It is important to maintain 375 degrees.
Patti Krzos
Reguarding apple fritter recipe In ingredients I see no mention of milk yet it is in instructions and egg is listed in ingredients but not mentioned in instructions please clarify I want to make these they look easy and yummy thanks Patti
bpierce
So sorry about that. One should not post recipes while kids are running around like chickens!!! 🙂 It is fixed now and thanks for making me aware of it!!
Beth Pierce
Thanks so much Marilyn. So glad that you and the family liked them! I love any kind of fritter!!
Bryan
To other fellow apple fritter loving people: the BEST apple fritter of my life was at Seaside Bakery in Newport Beach, CA. I had them on a business trip there over 25 years ago and was thrilled to find them still in business couple years ago. I drove 75 miles to and buy these again. .Ended up vacuum sealing and freezing two boxes of them and they went in the freezer of my tour bus. OMG
These here look pretty good, I’ll give them a whirl.
Beth Pierce
That is great. I love it! Thanks for sharing that with us.
Jim O
Best I had were at Holiday Inn in Laughlin, NV extra heavy on the filling..it was like apples and cinnamon with a “little” dough around it (to die for)
Dee
How much milk?
bpierce
Sorry 1/3 cup. I have since made that and another correction. Please check corrections before proceeding. I should not post recipes while children are acting like monkeys!
KATHLEEN
This recipe turned out great. The instructions were easy and very clear! Thanks so much for sharing!!! They are delish!!!
Beth Pierce
Awesome Kathleen! So glad that you liked it! The pleasure is all mine!!
