Indulge in a Chocolate Martini
This chocolate lovers martini is perfect for Easter, Valentine’s Day, birthday celebrations, bridal showers, or just because you and your significant other want to sip on something marvelous with chocolate flavors for dessert!
Do you like a good martini? I love martinis, and my hubby adores chocolate, so these are one of our favorites. This delectable martini is a chocolate lover’s dream come true. I had forgotten how much I love these. These will most certainly be on our Easter menu. If you love martinis as much as we do, try my appletini, lemon drop martini, and French martini.
What’s in a Chocolate Martini
How do you Make a Chocolate Martini?
First, grate some chocolate and place it on a plate with some depth. Put a little bit of chocolate syrup on the tip of your finger and run the rim of the glass. Turn the glass upside down and run the edge gently in the grated chocolate. Keep turning and tilting till you get a nice rim of chocolate around the glass.
Put some ice in a martini shaker, and then add the chocolate liquor, creme de cocoa, vodka, and heavy cream. Place the strainer and the cover for the strainer on the shaker and give it a few gentle shakes. Before you pour the cocktail, swirl a little chocolate sauce into the glass. Promptly take the top off the strainer and strain the cocktail into the prepared glass. The chilled martini will help keep the chocolate syrup from spreading too much.
Recipe Tips
- Refrigerate the chocolate syrup before preparing the cocktail. Just a small amount of chocolate syrup at a time on the tip of your finger works best for preparing the glass for rimming. If necessary, put another small amount on the end of your finger and finish working it around.
- Use a box grater to grate the chocolate. Do it right on the plate that you will rim the glasses on.
- Use good quality vodka. It makes a difference. The market is plentiful with great selections.
- Godiva chocolate liqueur is one of the best.
- Bailey’s Irish Cream can be substituted for the Creme de Cacao and the heavy cream.
- If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, don’t worry. You can use a clean jar, a sports bottle, or a protein shaker.
- As with any cocktail, adjust it to your taste. You might want less vodka and more chocolate liquor.
- Grated or finely shaved chocolate is delicious and the perfect garnish.
What to Serve with a Chocolate Martini
These delicious cocktails can serve as a dessert or pair them with chocolate-covered strawberries, cherry cheesecake, Oreo truffles, or cream cheese brownies.
Why is a Martini Shaken and Not Stirred?
Shaking the martini ingredients with ice for 5 to 10 seconds chills the cocktail perfectly without diluting it too much. If you were to stir the same cocktail with ice, it would quickly dilute before it was consumed, disturbing the perfect balance of ingredients.
