Ingredients
3pearsAnjou pears, Bartlett pears, or Bosc pears
1/2cupgranola
1/3cupchopped pecans
2-3pinchescinnamon
3tablespoonsmaple syrup
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Slice the pears in half and, using a melon baller, scoop out the core being careful not to go all the way through to the bottom.
Combine granola and chopped pecans in a bowl. Divide evenly between the pears spooning into the hole you hallowed out. Sprinkle the pears with cinnamon and drizzle with maple syrup. Bake for 25 minutes uncovered in a baking dish.
Notes
As far as baking, Anjou pears, Bartlett pears, and Bosc pears are the best as they hold their shape and texture best.
Pears are at their optimum for baking at the same time that they are at their optimum for eating.
Real maple syrup tastes best in this recipe. It is more expensive than the artificial stuff but worth every penny.
You can substitute other nuts for the pecans, like walnuts, almonds, or pistachios.
Add a few pinches of ground ginger or some oats to the mix.
This recipe is best served promptly however they are good for up to 4-5 days if covered and stored in the refrigerator.
Serve with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, or a spoonful of plain or vanilla Greek yogurt. Or simply enjoy the natural sweetness of the pears.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
