Homemade Applesauce is so incredibly easy to make with four ingredients in one pot right on the stove top. Or do it in the crock pot and slow cook them for hours, making your house smell amazing.

In a large pot, combine apples, water, sugar, and cinnamon. Bring it to a boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat and simmer covered for 15-20 minutes or until the apples are very tender.
For chunky applesauce, mash with a potato masher. For smoother applesauce, puree with an immersion blender until desired consistency. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
Notes
Adjust the sugar to suit your taste.
You can make applesauce out of any apples, but my favorites are Honeycrisp, Braeburns, and McIntosh.
Other spices to add in small amounts are nutmeg, allspice, and ground cloves.
For chunky applesauce, simply mash with a fork or old-fashioned potato masher. For smoother applesauce, use an immersion blender or food processor.
If you are watching your sugar, wait until you have smashed your applesauce and add sugar or honey one tablespoon at a time until desired sweetness.
A really sharp peeler comes in handy when making applesauce.
Store the applesauce in an airtight container in the fridge for 4-5 days.
