2clovesgarlic minced
1/2teaspoonsea saltor to taste
1/4teaspoon freshly ground black pepperor to taste
choppedfresh thyme, parsley, or rosemary
Instructions
Heat the oil and melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the green beans and cook for 5-10 minutes or until desired tenderness. Reduce the heat to low and add the minced garlic. Cook for 1 minute while stirring.
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle with fresh chopped herbs like rosemary, thyme, or Italian parsley.
Notes
It really is not necessary to blanch your green beans unless you like them very soft. We prefer them crisp-tender but keep in mind that you can achieve fairly tender beans without blanching them.
My preferred bean for this recipe is the French green bean (also known as haricots verts), but you can use any green bean. Just make sure that you trim the stem end of the green bean.
Other herbs to consider are chopped fresh thyme, parsley, and basil or dried oregano or marjoram.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat on the stovetop over low heat or in the microwave at reduced power.
