Ingredients
1lbItalian sausage
1small yellow onion, finely chopped
1smallgreen bell pepper, finely diced
2cupsshredded mozzarella cheese
3ouncespepperoni
Garlic Butter
3tablespoonsbutter melted
¼teaspoongarlic powder
½teaspoondried Italian seasoning
2tablespoonsfreshly grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cover a medium-sized baking sheet with parchment paper.
Brown the Italian sausage in a medium-sized skillet over medium heat. When it is halfway browned, add the onion and bell pepper and cook until the sausage browns and the onion and pepper soften. Carefully remove any excess fat.
Slice the Hawaiian buns in half without separating them. Sprinkle the bottom half with 1 cup of shredded mozzarella. Layer it with the cooked sausage mixture and the pepperoni.
Sprinkle evenly with the remaining mozzarella cheese and cover with the top buns.
Mix the melted butter, garlic powder, Italian seasonings, and Parmesan cheese. Brush over the top of the buns.
Cover loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 10-12 minutes or until the buns are lightly browned and the cheese is melted.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave at reduced power for short intervals until warm.
