Ingredients
8ounces spaghetti pasta
2tablespoonssoftened butter
2large eggs beaten
1/2cupgrated Parmesan cheese
1lbground Italian sausage
2cupsmarinara or pasta sauce
1cupricotta cheese
1 1/2cupsmozzarella cheese
1/2teaspoonItalian seasoning
1/4teaspoongarlic powder
chopped fresh basil or Italian parsleyfor garnish
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a deep dish pie pan.
Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Add the pasta, cook al dente according to package directions, and drain well. Add the butter and let it melt in the warm pasta. Add the eggs and Parmesan cheese and mix to coat.
Meanwhile, cook the Italian sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain any excess grease, add the marinara, and simmer for 10 minutes.
In a medium bowl, stir the ricotta cheese, 1 cup mozzarella cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
To assemble, press the spaghetti mixture into the prepared pie plate. Spoon the ricotta mixture on top of the spaghetti and spread it with an offset spatula. Spoon the sauce over the ricotta mixture and top with the remaining shredded mozzarella
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the casserole has heated through. Cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
