Ingredients
2cupsfresh or frozen strawberries
½cupwater
½cupgranulated sugar
4cupswhole milkwell chilled
3-4drops red food coloringoptional
whipped creamoptional
Instructions
Add the strawberries, water, and sugar to a small pot and simmer gently for about 10-12 minutes.
Strain the strawberries and juice through a fine mesh strainer, gently pressing the strawberries against the mesh to extract as much of the juice as possible.
Let it cool down for 10-15 minutes. Add 2-3 tablespoons of the syrup to a well-chilled glass of milk and stir to combine.
If desired, add 1-2 drops of red food coloring per glass and a little bit of whipped cream.
Notes
Store the strawberry syrup in the fridge in a sealable container, such as a mason jar, for up to 2 weeks. That way, you can use it to make a quick glass at a moment's notice.
