Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons matcha powder (premium or ceremonial grade)
  • ½ cup hot water (160-175 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • ice cubes
  • 2 cups milk (almond, oat, soy, or coconut)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup, honey, or agave nectar (optional) to taste

Instructions

  • Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl.
  • Add the hot (not boiling water) and whisk for a couple of minutes in a zigzag pattern, creating a frothy foam on top.
  • Add ice and milk to two glasses. The smaller the glass, the greater the concentration of matcha.
  • Divide the matcha mixture between the two glasses and stir to combine.

Notes

To make this a warm latte, skip the ice cubes and warm the milk before adding the matcha mixture.
