You will love this creamy iced matcha latte with an earthy flavor and natural sweetness that makes it so refreshing. This delicious, revitalizing beverage is made in five minutes with five easy ingredients. Skip the line at Starbucks and make this tasty latte at home.

What is Matcha?
Matcha is Japanese dried green tea leaves finely ground into powder. It is all the craze right now, and rightfully so. Its earthy, sweet flavor makes it delicious in matcha cookies, cakes, pancakes, and, of course, lattes.
Ingredient Notes and Substitutions
- Matcha powder: There are three types of matcha: culinary grade, premium grade, and ceremonial grade. For this matcha latte recipe, I use a premium-grade barista blend.
- Milk: There are so many great choices here. I recommend plant-based milk such as oat, soy, or coconut milk.
- Sweetener: maple syrup, honey, agave nectar, or stevia for a zero-calorie option
How To Make Iced Matcha Latte
This is a summary version; for the complete list of ingredients and instructions, please refer to the recipe card below. See below in the recipe card notes how to make a warm matcha latte.
- Sift the matcha powder.
- Add the hot (not boiling water) and whisk for a couple of minutes in a zigzag pattern, creating a frothy foam on top.
- Add ice and milk to a couple of glasses. The smaller the glass, the greater the concentration of matcha.
- Divide the matcha mixture between the two glasses and stir to combine.

Preparation Tips
- The grade of matcha powder does matter. The matcha taste is very prevalent in a latte, so use premium or ceremonial grade matcha.
- Always whisk the matcha powder with hot water before adding it to your milk. It breaks up small clumps and enhances flavor, texture, and aroma.
- Warm the water to 160-175 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not add boiling water as it will burn the matcha, making it bitter and turning its beautiful green color brown or yellow.
- To make this a warm latte, skip the ice cubes and warm the milk before adding the matcha mixture.

I need to get one of those little whisks as I currently don’t have one so my match tea ends up with clumps in it. I’d like to be able to experiment with making an iced matcha latte!!
