This mouthwatering six-ingredient Southern Comeback Sauce lives up to its name. It will keep you coming back time and time again for more. It is a delicious condiment, but I also love to serve it as a dipping sauce.

This tasty sauce originated at a Greek restaurant named The Rotisserie in Jackson, Mississippi, as the house dressing. If you have never had this southern sauce, then I can assure you that you must try it. It takes less than five minutes to mix up, and it is delicious with beer-battered fish, cocktail shrimp, fried green beans, and quesadillas. However, it really needs to come with a disclaimer that once you taste it, you will be addicted.
Ingredient Notes and Substitutions
See the complete list of ingredients on the recipe card below.
- Mayonnaise: I love Duke’s, but you can use your favorite brand.
- Chili Sauce: There’s not much to substitute for this, but sriracha adds a kick, or sweet Thai chili sauce adds a sweeter taste.
- Worcestershire Sauce: If you do not have this on hand, you can mix equal parts soy sauce, ketchup, and white wine vinegar (or apple cider vinegar); this mimics its savory, tangy flavor.
- Honey: Alternatives include agave at a 1:1 ratio, maple syrup for a more earthy sweetness, or white or brown sugar.

What to Use Comeback Sauce On
- Burgers, sandwiches, salads, and wraps.
- Fried foods like French fries, shrimp, fish, onion rings, and chicken.
- Potato chips, tortilla chips, and pretzels.
- Hot wings, fried wings, baked wings, chicken nuggets, and air fryer wings.
- Baked chicken, fish, and pork.
- Grilled steak, pork tenderloin, and brats.
- Appetizers include southwest egg rolls, cream cheese wontons, fried okra, coconut shrimp, onion straws, and fried green beans. The list is only limited by your imagination.
So if you love a lip-smacking good dipping sauce or salad dressing, then this baby is for you. Put the ingredients on your shopping list today. Your family and friends will be singing your praises and dipping up a storm.
