These Air Fryer Baked Potatoes are our new favorite way to make taters. They bake up crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. No more microwaved potatoes after we have been spoiled by these spuds. Trust me when I tell you that these are the best baked potatoes! Even crispier than oven-baked potatoes. They are a perfect side dish for chicken, beef, or pork

Once you get a few great air fryer recipes, you will realize just how well it cooks food. Especially foods that are traditionally fried. This recipe, Air Fryer Asparagus, Air Fryer Potato Wedges, and Air Fryer Onion Rings are just a few of our favorites.
How to Cook Baked Potatoes In An Air Fryer
This is a summary version; for the complete list of ingredients and instructions, please refer to the recipe card below.
- Wash the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels. Prick the skin with a fork and rub vegetable oil over the potatoes. Generously sprinkle with sea salt.
- Place in the air fryer basket with space between them. Air fry at 390 degrees for about 30-45 minutes. Allow the potatoes to sit in the air fryer until they are cool enough to handle.

Pop the potatoes instead of cutting them
Using a fork, run the length of the potato, poking holes in a straight line. Then make another short straight line down the center of the width of the potato. Gently push the sides of the potato together to lightly fluff it up.

Toppings for Baked Potatoes
- Butter
- Sour cream
- Chives – dried or fresh.
- Shredded cheese – cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack, and Pepper Jack.
- Bacon bits – crispy cooked smoked bacon
- Onions – green onions or Onion Straws.
- Salsa – jarred or homemade.
- salt and pepper
- Chili
- White Queso Dip
- Chopped ham
- Smoked salmon

Preparation Tips For Success
- Russet potatoes work best for this recipe. Choose medium to small potatoes so that you have enough room for several potatoes.
- For best results, use an oil with a high smoke point like vegetable or canola oil. Olive oil has too low a smoking point to use for this recipe.
- Use kosher or sea salt and sprinkle generously.
- Air fryers cook at varying levels of heat and intensity, hence the wide variation in cooking time. They are done when they are fork-tender.
