This delicious Aperol Spritz Recipe is made with Aperol, Prosecco, and club soda for the easiest, most refreshing three-ingredient cocktail. Its beautiful orange color makes it perfect for easy-drinking summer cocktail parties and afternoon pool parties.

Summer is finally here, and with it come so many great cocktail recipes. Hubby and I love to put on a good show for our family and friends. If you like a great summer cocktail, try a salty dog, a pineapple margarita, and a peach daiquiri.
What is an Aperol Spritz?
See the complete list of ingredients below on the recipe card.
Originating in Italy, Aperol is a bittersweet, bright orange Italian liqueur with an amazing, complex flavor. Its key ingredients include oranges, rhubarb, roots, and herbs. It is commonly served as a spritz. A spritz is a wine-based cocktail made with prosecco, a bitter liqueur (like Aperol), and a splash of soda water. It is usually served in a big bowl wine glass with plenty of ice and orange slices for a garnish.
Ingredient Notes and Substitutions
This is a summary version; for the complete list of ingredients and instructions, please refer to the recipe card below.
- Prosecco: It is an Italian sparkling wine. Use a dry or brut variety to ensure the cocktail is not too sweet. I like Kirkland’s prosecco, although it is slightly sweeter than brut.
- Aperol: It is a little more difficult to find than your average specialty liqueur. My local grocery stores do not carry it, but several local liquor stores do. It might be best to call ahead and ensure they have it in stock.
- Club soda: You can use any unflavored sparkling water for a little fizz.
- Garnish: It is traditionally garnished with an orange slice. Try blood oranges and a little rosemary sprig.

How to make an Aperol Spritz
It is an easy drink to mix. Just think 3-2-1. 3 parts prosecco, 2 parts Aperol, and 1 part club soda or sparkling water, all mixed in a big bowl, a wine glass, and garnished with thin orange slices. I usually just mix them on the fly, but there are written amounts to follow in the recipe below.
Serving Suggestions
Aperol spritz is commonly served as an aperitif, before the meal to prepare the palate and stimulate the appetite. I like to serve something a little on the lighter side, like bruschetta or antipasto salad. Or think fresh mozzarella with homemade crostini.
