Ingredient Notes and Substitutions
See the complete list of ingredients on the recipe card below.
- Strawberries: This can be fresh or frozen.
- Milk: I used whole milk, but you can try almond milk, soy milk, coconut milk, oat milk, or cashew milk.
- Granulated Sugar: For the main recipe, I used sugar, but you can always add some maple syrup, honey, or stevia for an alternate sugar-free sweetener. Just sweeten to taste.

How to Make Strawberry Milk
This is a summary version; for the complete list of ingredients and instructions, please refer to the recipe card below.
- In a medium saucepan, add water, sugar, and strawberries over medium heat. Simmer for 10-12 minutes.
- Strain the mixture through a strainer, gently pressing the strawberries against the mesh to extract as much of the juice.
- Let it chill down for a bit, then pour a couple of tablespoons into a well-chilled glass of milk and stir to combine.
- If desired, add 1-2 drops of red food coloring and some whipped cream.

Preparation Tips
- The milk turns pale pink, so add a few drops of food coloring if you want more color.
- McCormick sells natural food coloring made from plants, veggies, and seeds.
- Don’t be too quick to throw out those mashed strawberries. They are delicious in a bowl of Greek yogurt, vanilla ice cream, or even cottage cheese.

This homemade version of the classic drink is a sweet idea for the weekend. I usually find the store versions too sugary. Using fresh berries from the market would make the flavor much more natural.
