You will love these deliciously simple cheeseburger sliders on Hawaiian Rolls. With just the right balance of seasonings and plenty of cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese, these will be the hit of your next party.

Enjoy these tasty sliders for movie night, game day, potluck, or your neighborhood social. I love to serve them garlic parmesan fries, pan-fried potatoes, and ranch potatoes.
Ingredient Notes and Substitutions
See the complete list of ingredients below on the recipe card.
- Ground beef: Use ground beef with a bit of fat in it. Fat is what gives it flavor. I like to use 85/15 or 80/20, which is 80% lean and 20% fat.
- Mayonnasie: I prefer Duke’s, but any mayo will work.
- Dijon mustard: You can substitute brown or regular yellow mustard.
- Cheese: Use slices of sharp cheddar, mild cheddar, or Pepper Jack. Use shredded cheddar, Monterey jack, or queso quesadilla. You can use sliced cheese on top, but shredded cheese melts better into the burger mixture.
- Hawaiian Rolls: You can substitute any slider rolls.
How to Make Cheeseburger Sliders
This is the summary version; for the complete list of ingredients and instructions, see the recipe card below.
Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. When it is about halfway browned, add the onion and continue cooking until the beef is brown and the onion is soft. Carefully remove any excess fat. Return the skillet to the burner and reduce the heat to low. Add the garlic and cook for a minute while stirring.

Stir in the mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Slice the Hawaiian buns in half without separating them. Lay the slices of cheddar on the bottom half.

Spoon the ground mixture on top of the sliced cheddar. Evenly sprinkle the shredded cheese over the ground beef.

If desired, add pickles and cover with the top buns. We have a few pickle lovers, but not all. Brush the tops of the buns with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for about 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the buns are golden brown.

Preparation Tips
- Make the beef mixture up to 2 days ahead of time. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat at reduced power in the microwave just until warm. Do not assemble the sliders more than an hour or two before baking to prevent soggy buns.
- If you like pickles, add them before baking; they are difficult to add after, as the sandwiches are all hot and melty.
- Do not toast the sesame seeds. They will toast on top of the buns in the oven.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave at reduced power for short intervals until warm.
Recipe Variations
- Meat: Use ground pork, chicken, or turkey.
- Cheese: Try American, Provolone, smoked Gouda, Brie, mozzarella, or blue cheese.
- Fresh herbs: Try fresh herbs like parsley, thyme, rosemary, dill, or cilantro. Stir in a tablespoon of chopped fresh herbs into the prepared hamburger mixture.
- Seasonings: For a fun and tasty change, try taco, Cajun, or creole seasoning in the ground beef mixture.

Your post made me crave for cheeseburgers! This looks really delicious. Just like you — I also prefer Duke’s. Love the idea of using more than 1 type of cheese. Can’t wait to try this recipe.
