How to make Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
This is the nutshell version. See the recipe card below for the full list of ingredients and instructions.
Start by whisking the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. Set that aside for a few minutes. Stir the softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl. Add the vanilla and eggs one at a time, stirring until combined.

Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in a few increments, mixing until almost combined. Now add the chocolate chips and bananas, mixing just until everything is combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for about 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean with just a few moist crumbs. Let the loaf cool for 10-15 minutes before inverting to a wire rack.

Add A Handful Of Chocolate Chips To The Top
Top with a handful of chocolate chips before baking for an extravagant presentation. Because the chocolate chips are still soft, you must cool the loaf a few minutes longer before removing it from the pan.
Be very careful taking the loaf out of the pan, but with a little patience, it can be done. Or make a parchment paper sling to help remove the bread from the pan,
Preparation Tips
- Soften that butter for at least 1 hour. You need it fairly soft to stir the batter together.
- Stir the mixture just until combined. Quick bread can become tough if stirred too much.
- For the best flavor and texture, use very ripe bananas. The riper, the better; they add flavor and are easier to combine.
